By the time I made these I had gotten a proper pyrography set and a dremel-like tool. Not only did this make burning the runes into the wood easier, but I found that a tiny sanding disc attachment on the tool thing smoothed the runes to a wonderful finish. Given the fact that I held each rune in turn in one hand while I worked the sander over it on a flexible extension with the other, this still felt very much like a hand-tool project. A burring attachment allowed me to carve into the leather for this pouch to produce the old logo for my aunt's web site.
